Beatrice Tobias
Beatrice Tobias, 88, of Gould City, died Saturday, February 13, 2010, at the Schoolcraft Medical Care Facility in Manistique.
She was born April 19, 1921, in Fosters, to John and Bessie (nee Liddicoatt) Matthes. She attended school in Fosters.
She married Louis Tobias December 31, 1938, in Birch Run. They lived there for several years and moved to Gould City in 1971.
Mrs. Tobias was a homemaker. She enjoyed cooking, cleaning, playing cards and bingo, doing crossword puzzles, watching “Wheel of Fortune” and “The Price is Right,” deer hunting and fishing, and going to high school basketball games. She liked being active. She especially loved being with her family and friends.
She is survived by her four daughters and their families, Bonnie and Burt Kanine of Gould City, LeeAndra and Tom Wellman of Saginaw, Luann and John McDougall of Birch Run, and Arlee and Al Faulkner of Gould City; 13 grandchildren; three stepgrandchildren; 19 great-grandchildren; a brother, Arthur Matthes of Birch Run; two sisters, Wanda Howard of Millington and Mary Abraham of Clio, and several nieces and nephews.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, who died November 13, 2001; her son and daughter-in-law, James and Sharon Tobias; a grandson, Ken McDougall; five sisters, and one brother.
Visitation was Sunday, February 14, from 4 p.m. to 8 p.m. at Messier-Broullire Funeral Home in Manistique. Visitation continued Monday, February 15, from noon to 1 p.m. at the funeral home, followed by services at 1 p.m. with the Reverend Arthur Bode officiating.
Burial will be in Newton Township Cemetery at Gould City.
