DeTour Carnival Celebrates Winter
A snowman contest with a “Sweet Treat” theme, along with a brownie
bake-off, pie-eating contest, and candy walk are some of the highlights of DeTour’s Winterfest this Saturday, February 27.
Most of the activities will take place in and around the DeTour Village Hall, beginning at 10 a.m.
Indoor events will include a chili cook-off, brownie bake-off with adult and youth divisions, youth pie-eating contest, candy walk, and games. Judging for the chili cookoff begins at 11 a.m. The pie eating contest will be at 12:30 p.m. hot wings eating contest will begin at 2 p.m. To register for that contest, call 297-5024.
“Kids café” offered by the elementary school parents group will sell cinnamon rolls first thing the morning.
A dance for students through eighth grade will be from 3:30 p.m. to 6:30 p.m. The elementary school king and queen will be crowned at 3 p.m. Students may register at the king and queen table until 2:30 p.m.
Outdoors, participants will see “Sweet Treat” snowmen around the community. Judging for these will begin at 9:30 a.m. Other outdoor activities include a frozen fish toss, snow golf, a hockey shoot, the walk, run, drive poker rally, and the “Glazier Mountain” sledding hill and fire pit. The fish toss will take place at 11 a.m., along with the hockey shoot. Snow golf will begin at 1 p.m.
A snowmobile poker run will start at the Village Hall and travel around DeTour. Registration is from 10 a.m. to noon, and all poker run cards must be turned in before 3 p.m.
Tickets for raffle drawings will be sold at the Village Hall. Drawings will be announced between 2:30 p.m. and 3 p.m.
