Marjorie Clapperton

Marjorie J. Clapperton, 91, of Coleman, died Wednesday, February 17, 2010, at Tendercare in Clare.

She was born January 17, 1919, in Van Buren County to Lloyd and Carrie (nee Crane) Fisher.

She married Dr. James S. Clapperton II May 3, 1947, in Saginaw.

Mrs. Clapperton assisted her husband with his medical practices in Fairgrove and when they came to Coleman in 1950, retiring in 1975. For 20 years, she spent summers in St. Ignace, working with her son at the North Bay Inn and the Tradewinds Motel.

She is survived by her son, James Clapperton III of St. Ignace; one daughter and her family, Melissa and William Cozat of Colemen; five grandchildren, Sara Garing, Erin Laakko, Eric Cozat, James Clapperton IV, and Alyssa Clapperton; five great-grandchildren, Ella, Gage, Kaitlin, Kylie, and Keegan; and a sister, Natilie Checkley of Sebring, Florida.

She was preceded in death by her husband, who died June 10, 1978; five brothers, and two sisters.

At her wishes, no visitation or services were held. Burial will take place in the Warren Township Cemetery in Colemen.

Memorials may be made to Midland County Council on Aging Senior Services.

O’Laughlin Funeral Home in Coleman assisted the family with arrangements.
