Nicholina ‘Nicki’ Kelcheski

Nicholina Kelcheski Nicholina Kelcheski Nicholina Marie “Nicki” Kelcheski, 83, formerly of Goetzville, died Wednesday, February 17, 2010, in Iron Mountain.

She was born March 10, 1926, in Mercer County, Pennsylvania, to Vito and Antonietta (nee Raiti) Cardella.

As a young woman, Mrs. Kelcheski traveled extensively, including trips to Bermuda, Hawaii, and Sicily, where she attended a wedding and met many of her cousins.

In May 1958, she married Edward T. Kelcheski at St. De Sales Church in Detroit. They lived in Goetzville for many years. She and her husband operated a plastics manufacturing company. She was active in her community and at Wilderness Tabernacle Church in DeTour Village.

A self-taught piano player, Mrs. Kelcheski enjoyed playing that instrument as well as singing, theater, and dancing. She once performed a solo of an Italian opera at Cobo Hall. She also enjoyed watercolor painting, reading, traveling, gardening, puzzles, politics, Tigers baseball, and playing bingo.

She is survived by one daughter and her family, Roxanna and Pat Kemppainen of Iron Mountain; two sons, Damian Kelcheski and Shane Kelcheski, both of Goetzville; five grandchildren, Danielle Loomis, Anthony Warner, Zachary Michalski, Sophia Warner, and Ayden Kemppainen; and one great-grandchild, Dylan Loomis. She is also survived by one brother and his family, James Vincent and Alice Cardella of Novi. Mrs. Kelcheski was preceded death by her parents; her husband, Edward; a daughter, Kimberly Michalski; a sister, Ann, and brother, Philip.

Services were Monday, February 22, at Wilderness Tabernacle Church in DeTour Village. Visitation was from 10:30 a.m. 11:30 a.m., followed by the funeral at 11:30 a.m. Pastor Milton Adams conducted the service.

Burial will be in the spring at St. Stanislaus Cemetery in Goetzville. Reamer Galer Funeral Home Pickford assisted the family with arrangements.
