Mackinac Island

By Jeannette Doud 847-6298

March came in like a lamb, extremely quiet. We received a little snow Friday, February 26, but with mild temperatures, it disappeared fast. Spring is definitely in the air, with beautiful sunrises and sunsets reflecting down on the Straits of Mackinac. The days are getting longer, and we will change to Daylight Saving Time Sunday, March 14. Judy Bynoe reports her tulips are about an inch high. We still have some winter days left, and we always have a storm around St. Patrick’s Day.

Family and friends gathered to celebrate the life of Victor DeArce Wednesday, February 24, from 2 p.m. to 5 p.m. at Community Hall. Victor will be remembered for always being a gentleman, a devoted husband to his wife, Lula Belle, a dedicated employee, and for being helpful to everyone. He cherished the simple things in life: his snowmobile, scratching a lottery ticket, going for a walk with Lula Belle and enjoying the beauty of Mackinac, or visiting with friends at the post office or Doud’s. Victor had love to share and family and friends who cared. May he rest in peace.
