At the school board meeting Monday, February 15, the board honored the boys and girls crosscountry athletes who were just named Academic All State.
It was a busy week this week. The Kinross Recreation Center once again held the Winter Fest princess and queen pageant along with dogsled races. There are usually 100 area dogsled teams in the competition, but only 30 teams showed up this year, coming from as far as Wisconsin and Ohio. Jacob Cullip, who is from St. Ignace, said he has been dogsledding for 10 years, and has enjoyed it very much. The events were divided into six events this year, ranging from three dog pullers up to six dog pullers.
This year’s pageant contestants were as adorable as could be. Alani Germain was crowned princess, and Ashlyn Icenhower was crowned queen. Judges from around the area included Stephanie Godfrey and Herman Calkins.
