Brown Family Donates Canoe to St. Ignace Museum
Paul Brown (from left), Prentiss M. Brown, Jr., and Bob Brown, show off an authentic birchbark
canoe their family recently donated to the Fort de Buade Museum in St. Ignace Friday,
February 19. The historic canoe is now being stored in the museum's entryway while the facility is
closed for the season. The artifact, which the family acquired in the 1940s, should be displayed
where people can see it and learn about its history, since it is a piece of Indian history, Paul Brown
said. Museum Director Judi Engle said she has not yet decided where to display the canoe, but is
happy to add it to the collection.
