Glen’s Markets Plans St. Ignace Store Remodel
Glen's Markets in St. Ignace began a remodeling project Monday, February 22, in which the grocery store will upgrade the building's facade, renovate the interior, and change its layout.
Changes will include moving the produce section to the front of the store and adding deli, dairy, and frozen food cases.
Jack and Roger Card, owners of the plaza that includes Glen's Markets and Family Dollar Store, said the community could expect improvements to the fronts of both buildings, as well as improvements to the parking lot in the remodeling project.
Inside the store, the company plans to install new vinyl flooring, give the walls a fresh paint job, and update the rest of the interior decor.
The store will remain open during the remodeling project, and Glen's Markets plans to finish their work before Memorial Day weekend.
The City of St. Ignace granted the company a building permit for the renovations February 19.
Store Manager Dale Hess said customers will see some moving of aisles, restocking, and reorganizing going on during the days, but that all the heavy construction would be done at night while the store is closed.
“It will be business as usual during the day,” Mr. Hess said.
