St. Ignace Pee Wees, Bantams, Squirts Advance to State Finals

(Photograph courtesy of Scott Winkelman) The St. Ignace pee wees, squirts, and bantam hockey teams captured District 7 championships the weekend of Friday, February 12, through Sunday, February 14, to advance to the state championships that will be held Friday, March 5, through Sunday, March 7.

Pee Wee Districts: The West US-2 Shell team posted a 5-0 record and defeated Cadillac in the title game, with Dylan Danielson and Trevor Bailey sharing time in goal. St. Ignace statistics: Jack Styes, two goals, one assist; Dalton Lallier, one goal, two assists; Zak Lasley, Austin Wachnicki and Lukas Riordan, one goal; Austin Marshall, Anne Eberts, Andrew Christian, and Tyler Allen, one assist.

Squirts Districts: George's Body Shop of St. Ignace Squirts downed Cheboygan FOP 5-4 to win the district championships and tallied a 4-0 mark during the weekend games.

Statistics: Kody Rickley, two goals; Colby Harmon, Logan DeKeyser, and Hunter Frazier, one goal; Jared Helms and Sawyer Kulman, one assist.

St. Ignace advanced to the finals with a 9-1 win over Cadillac Jr. Vikings in the semifinals.

Statistics: Sawyer Kulman, Hunter Frazier, and Kody Rickley, three goals, two assists; Logan DeKeyser, one goal, one assist; Colby Harmon and Riley Allen, one assist.

In the opening round, the St. Ignace team defeated Cheboygan Werner Plumbing 11-6, Gaylord Ice Hawks 6-1, and Tawas 8-0.

Statistics vs. Werner Plumbing: Hunter Frazier, four goals; Logan DeKeyser, three goals, one assist; Sawyer Kulman, two goals; Riley Allen and Josh Arthur, one goal; Jared Helms, Kody Rickley, and Andy Metz, one assist.

Statistics vs. Ice Hawks: Kody Rickley, three goals; Hunter Frazier, one goal, two assists; Logan DeKeyser and Colby Harmon, one goal.

Statistics vs. Tawas: Kody Rickley, three goals, one assist; Logan DeKeyser, two goals, one assist; Hunter Frazier, one goal, two assists; Sawyer Kulman, one goal, one assist.

Bantam Districts: The First National Bank (FNB) Team of St. Ignace Bantams defeated Cheboygan 3-1 to win the district championship and compiled a 4-0-1 overall record.

Statistics: Kevin Taderson, two goals; Trent McRorie, one goal, one assist; Randy Parks and Jeremy Goetz, one assist. Ellis Graham stopped 34 of 35 shots in goal.

In the semifinals, the St. Ignace team upended the Traverse City Trolley Sabres 3-1. Statistics: Martin Donajkowski, Jeremy Goetz, Trent McRorie, one goal; Kevin Taderson, Randy Parks, Mason Bailey, one assist. Ellis Graham stopped 22 of 23 shots in goal.

FNB advanced to the final four with a 4-0 win over Cadillac, tied with Cheboygan 4-4, and defeated Traverse City Copy Shop 5-1.

Statistics vs. Cadillac: Connor Langendorf, two goals; Trent McRorie and Kevin Tadergerson, one goal, one assist. Ellis Graham stopped all 33 shots on goal.

Statistics vs. Cheboygan: Trent McRorie, two goals, one assist; Keegan Fulgenzi and Kevin Tadgerson, one goal; Kyle Winkelman, Sam Eberts, one assist. Ellis Graham stopped 30 of 34 shots on goal.

Statistics vs. TC Copy Shop: Trent McRorie, hat trick, three goals; Keegan Fulgenzi and Randy Parks, one goal; Kyle Winkelman and James Helms, two assists; Mason Bailey and Jeremy Goetz, one assist. Goaltenders Ellis Graham and Cole DePetro combined to stop 24 of 24 shots. During the tournament, Ellis Graham stopped 119 of 125 shots on goal.
