Anglers To Fish the Last Chance Walleye Derby March 12 and 13

The Soo Area Sportsmen’s Club will hosts its final fishing tournament of the season, the Last Chance Walleye Derby, Friday, March 12, and Saturday, March 13, on Munuscong Bay. The event will begin at 1 a.m. Friday and end at 8 p.m. Saturday. The weigh-in tent will be at Dan’s Cabin’s and Resort.

Entry fee is $15 for adults and $5 for children 15 years old and younger. Tickets are available at Wilderness Treasures and Dan’s Cabins in Pickford, MMC Store in Barbeau, and Petersen’s Country Store in Raber.

The event will award a $400 grand prize to the adult angler who catches the largest walleye. Second prize is $250. Third prize is $150. Fourth prize is $100, and fifth prize is $75.

In the children’s contest, the angler who catches the largest walleye will receive $50. The second largest fish will earn a $25 prize, and $15 will be awarded to the youngster who catches the third largest walleye. The angler who catches the largest pike will receive $25. The second largest fish will earn a $15 prize, and $10 will be awarded to the third largest pike.

Weigh in hours will be Friday and Saturday from 11 a.m. to noon and from 7 p.m. to 8 p.m. No fish will be weighed after 8 p.m. Saturday. The awards ceremony will be after the final weigh-in.
