Representative Gary McDowell of Rudyard was presented with the Michigan Pharmacists Association Pharmacy Political Action Council Legislator of the Year Award at the association’s Annual Convention, Friday, February 26, through Sunday, February 28, at the Detroit Marriott at the Renaissance Center.

The Legislator of the Year Award is presented annually to a state legislator who has introduced or supported good public policy and has been supportive of the profession of pharmacy.

Mr. McDowell, as chairman of the House Appropriations Subcommittee on Community Health, worked to secure a dispensing fee increase for the feefor service Medicaid program. Additionally, he has supported a medication therapy management program for Medicaid, which would improve the care and medication outcomes for patients in Michigan, the group noted.
