Hello, everyone. Our weather continues to be nice, with above normal temperatures.

Congratulations to Beth and Travis Tryon, who were married Wednesday, March 10. We wish them a lifetime of happiness.

There will be a Cops and Robbers basketball game Friday, March 19, at 6:30 p.m. at Engadine Consolidated Schools.

Engadine Consolidated Schools senior class will have a Schwan sale fundraiser Saturday, March 20, from 10 a.m to 3 p.m. at the school.

Friday, March 19, and Saturday, March 20, at 7 p.m. both evenings, the "Yooper Home Companion" will be presented at the Erickson Center in Curtis by The Portage Players. The evening will be filled with skits, jokes, and music featuring Jeff Guenther and Dan Flesher. Ticket donation is $10 for adults and $8 for children age 12 and younger.

The 28th Annual Woodchoppers Ball will be Saturday, March 20, at the American Legion Hall in Newberry. Dinner tickets are $10 and must be purchased by Friday, March 19.

There will be a benefit for Zachary and Janaya Newton, children of Beth Lambert, who lost her battle with cancer December 28, 2009. The benefit will be Saturday, March 20, from 5 p.m. to 9 p.m. at the Sidetracks Bar in Cooks. The Country Roses will perform at 7 p.m., followed by Lost Cause at 9 p.m. There also will be silent auctions and 50/50 drawings. All proceeds will go into a trust fund for the children.

Everyone is welcome to the Manistique Lakes Lions Club allyou can-eat pancake brunch Sunday, March 21, from 8:30 a.m. to noon at the Community Building in Curtis. Cost is $5 for adults and $3 for children older than age 10. There is no charge for children age 10 and younger, with a paying adult. There also will be a bake sale.

Condolences to the family of former Engadine resident Effie Sulcer, 95, of Lansing, who passed away Thursday afternoon, March 11. Please keep her family and friends in your prayers. An obituary is published in this issue of The St. Ignace News.

Condolences also to the family of Donald Moisio, Sr., 70, a lifelong resident of the Newberry area, who passed away Wednesday, March 10. Please keep his wife, Darline, and their family in your prayers. An obituary is published in this issue of The St. Ignace News.

Happy belated birthday to Brian Webb, who celebrated his birthday March 12.
