A Rudyard team finished in first place and a team of four St. Ignace students competing in the Math Bowl Friday, March 12, at Lake Superior State University came in second.
Students in grades eight through 12 took part in the timed mathematics competition. The A Team from Rudyard Area Schools is made up of seniors William DeYoung and Karrie Berkompas. The St. Ignace team is made up of freshmen Molly Paquin, Galloway Thurston, Zach Harrington, and Jaici Schiemke.
Other schools participating were Newberry and JKL Bahweting in Sault Ste. Marie. Additional students competing for Rudyard were Megan Trotter, Adam Graber, Isaac Sugitt, and Matt Zahara. Students competing for JKL Bahweting were Kiley Morgan, Adam Harvey, Bryn Methner, Jeremy Theut, Austin Visnaw, Destiny McKechnie, Madison Fairbanks, and Madison Mayer. Students from Newberry were Kelsey Fox, Darien McCormick, Adrianna Lyke, Monique Mahaffy, Tianne Burton, Shane Linck, Calvin Haley, Billy Parker, McKenzie Newly, Mark Pickelman, Corina Corbine, Jackie Perlbeg, Tyles Polminski, Lilly Harmon, Abigail Stewart, Matthew Genlron, and Alexis Pillion.
