Two Reporters Join Staff of The St. Ignace News
Two reporters, Josh Perttunen and Ted Booker, have recently joined the staff at The St. Ignace
News.
Mr. Perttunen, 27, is from Marquette and started work at the newspaper Friday, February 12. He was graduated from Northern Michigan University in Marquette with a bachelor's degree in creative writing, with a minor in sociology.
Since graduation, Mr. Perttunen spent 1.5 years as the editor of The Leader and Kalkaskian in Kalkaska, and also has worked as staff writer, copy editor, features writer, and opinion editor for The North Wind, the student newspaper in Marquette.
He enjoys reading, writing, hiking, and said he is happy to be near the Great Lakes and to be home in the Upper Peninsula again.
Mr. Booker, 24, is from Holland, Michigan, and started work at the newspaper Wednesday, March 3. He was graduated from Grand Valley State University in Allendale with a bachelor's degree in English and a minor in psychology.
Mr. Booker wrote articles for the The Herald school newspaper while attending Cornerstone University in Grand Rapids before transferring to Grand Valley State. He also worked as a freelance sports reporter for the Holland Sentinel before moving to St. Ignace.
A distance runner, Mr. Booker is now training for a 25-kilometer race, the River Bank Run, in Grand Rapids in May. He also is an avid reader and describes himself as a “typical Michigan sports fan.”
In the newsroom, the two reporters join the staff of reporters Karen Gould, Mark Tower, and Mike Ayala, sportswriter David Latva, and editor Ellen Paquin.
