Volunteers Learn Ice Is Thin on Brevort Lake

2010-03-18 / News

Volunteers from the Straits Area Sportsmen's Club work Saturday, March 13, to pull an off-road vehicle out of the water of Brevort Lake, after thin, melting ice caused the four-wheeler to sink through. The workers had ventured onto the ice Saturday to drill holes around 21 fish cribs built earlier this winter, something they said will help the cribs sink more quickly, before the wind blows them, along with the ice, to different areas of the lake. Volunteers found the ice had deteriorated more quickly than anticipated. The vehicle was salvaged.
