Effie Sulcer Effie Sulcer Effie M. Sulcer, 95, of Lansing and formerly of Engadine, died Thursday, March 11, 2010, at the Mother Teresa House in Lansing.

She was born January 30, 1915, to Matt and Barbara (nee Mihelcic) Ozanich.

She attended Engadine Schools. She was employed at the Hiawatha Sportsman's Club before moving to Lansing, where she met and married Donald Sulcer Sr. in 1937. They resided in Lansing until 1949, when they moved to Engadine, where they owned and operated the Engadine Motel until 1970. Later Mr. and Mrs. Sulcer moved back to Lansing, where she was a part-time employee of the Lansing School District.

Her hobbies and interests included gardening and crocheting. She was a devoted homemaker.

Mrs. Sulcer is survived by three children and their families, Barbara Scott of Merrill, Donald Jr. and Cindy Sulcer of Fayetteville, North Carolina, and Christine Parsons of Lansing; five grandchildren, Donald Sulcer, Barbara Caldwell, Russell Scott Jr., Michael Sulcer, and Gabriel Parsons; eight great-grandchildren; three siblings, Johnny Ozanich of Engadine, Katie Geske of Trout Lake, and Delores Watts of Naubinway.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Donald Sr., who died in 1987; two grandchildren, Christine and Donna Sulcer; four siblings, Anthony and Matthew Ozanich, Mary Dickerson, and Anna Miller, and a son-in-law, Russell Scott.

Friends called at Beaulieu Funeral Home in Newberry Tuesday, March 16, from 1 p.m. to 2 p.m. Services followed at 2 p.m. at the funeral home with Father Frank Ricca officiating. Burial will take place at Engadine Cemetery.
