Eileen Fountain Eileen Fountain Eileen Helen Fountain, 80, of DeTour Village, died Sunday, March 14, 2010, at War Memorial Hospital in Sault Ste. Marie.

She was born July 19, 1929, in Cushing, Oklahoma, to Basil and Bertha (nee Anderson) Cook.

Mrs. Fountain grew up in Oklahoma. After graduating from high school, she joined the Women's Army Corps, where she met Merlin Lewis Fountain. They were married November 4, 1950, in San Antonio, Texas. They lived in Lansing for a short time, and then returned to Mr. Fountain’s hometown of DeTour, where their family grew up.

She sang in the choir and was director of the children's choir at DeTour Union Presbyterian Church for many years. She was an avid reader, enjoyed music, and played both the piano and organ.

Mrs. Fountain is survived by two sons and their families, Michael and Christene Fountain of Dafter and Johnny and Virginia Fountain of DeTour Village; two daughters and their families, Terry and Edward LaPoint of Kincheloe and Joyce and Norman Postula of Goetzville; nine grandchildren and their families, David and Val Fountain, Tara and Kevin Starr, Johnny Fountain Jr., Jason and Debbie Fountain, Hillary and Mark Nelson, Liza LaPoint, Samantha LaPoint, Andrea and Ryan Greene, and Andrew and Diedre Postula, and 15 greatgrandchildren, Drew Fountain, Zachary Fountain, Alexander Fountain, Peyton Fountain, Bryce Fountain, Gunner Fountain, Grant Fountain, Macy Nelson, Ryver Stevens, Morgan Stevens, Ashton Causley, Ella Greene, Kayla Greene, Mekenna Greene, and Thomas Postula.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Merlin Fountain, who died March 5, 2010; a son, David Fountain, and two sisters, Marjorie Cook and Pat Parson.

Visitation will be Thursday, March 18, from 10 a.m. to noon at DeTour Union Presbyterian Church, with services at noon at the church.

Inurnment will be in Maple Grove Cemetery in the spring.

Reamer Galer Funeral Home in Pickford assisted the family with arrangements.
