Marie Falconer
Marie Falconer, 65, died of complications from surgery Sunday, March 7, 2010, in Kalamazoo.
She was born in Muskegon September 17, 1945.
Mrs. Falconer was graduated from Muskegon High School in 1963 and earned a bachelor’s degree in business administration from Western Michigan University.
She married Ivan Falconer January 22, 1965. She worked for Meijer in Kalamazoo as a store detective and later as a loss prevention manager for more than 25 years.
She was a passionate photographer, often winning awards at shows. Her favorite subjects were lighthouses, the Great Lakes, nature, and later, her grandchildren. She also learned to fly fish after retirement and accompanied her husband on many river trips. They especially loved spending time each year at Gates Lodge in Grayling. She was a member of the Vicksburg United Methodist Church and had recently become a certified lay speaker.
She is survived by a daughter and her family, Susan (nee Falconer) and Gary Horn of St. Ignace; a son, Andrew Falconer of Vicksburg; two grandchildren, Annemarie Horn and Brandon Horn of St. Ignace; four siblings and their families, Andrew Felker of Kentwood, Rosalie and Rod Brown of Grand Haven, Catherine and Fred Bialk of Grand Rapids, Edmund James and Jean Felker of Fruitport; her mother, Ann Marie Felker of Portage; a sister in law, Mary Lou DeRooy of Ludington; a brother-in-law and his family, Don and Patricia Falconer of Nevada, and many nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Ivan, who died in 2008 and her father in 1988.
Services will be Saturday, March 20, at 11 a.m. at the Vicksburg United Methodist Church. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the services.
Memorials may be made to the Vicksburg United Methodist Church or Anglers of the AuSable.
Life Story Funeral Homes in Vicksburg assisted the family with arrangements.
