Jack Andress

Jack R. Andress, 84, a longtime Curtis resident, died at Marquette General Hospital in Marquette Thursday, March 18, 2010.

He was born December 6, 1925, in Pontiac. He was an only child.

Mr. Andress grew up on the family’s homestead farm until he entered the U.S. Army Air Corps in 1943. He was honorably discharged from the service and returned to be graduated from Pontiac High School.

He married Margaret Waterbury.

Mr. Andress worked for Pontiac Motors, retiring in 1981. He and his wife were part-time residents in Curtis before his retirement and became full-time residents following his retirement.

He was a 60 year member of Pontiac Elks Club 810 in Pontiac, a life member of the Oakland Sportsman’s Club, a lifetime member of American Legion Post 290 in Engadine, and Past President of the Manistique Lions Club. He enjoyed the outdoors, especially hunting, fishing, and snowmobiling with three generations of the Jacqmain family. He was also an honorary member of the Perfect 40 Hunting Club.

Mr. Andress is survived by a special friend, Shirley Eggert of Curtis, and many friends he enjoyed in the Curtis area.

He was preceded in death by his loving wife “Marge," who died December 29, 2003.

A visitation and gathering of friends will be at Beaulieu Funeral Home in Newberry Friday, March 26, from 4 p.m. to 8 p.m. Services will be at Grace Lutheran Church in Germfask Saturday, March 27, at 11 a.m. with Pastor Arthur Bode officiating. Friends may attend from 10:30 a.m. until the time of services. Inurnment with military graveside services performed by Engadine American Legion Post 290 will follow in Woodlawn Cemetery in Curtis.

Memorials may be directed to Grace Lutheran Church in Germfask.
