Ruth Kuchuk
Ruth Ann Kuchuk, 53, of Drummond Island, was a special education teacher. Mrs. Kuchuk died Sunday, March 21, 2010, at her home.
She was born January 24, 1957, in Detroit, to John Jr. and Marion Pearl (nee Smith) Yadlosky.
She grew up in Livonia and attended Churchill High School, where she was graduated in 1975. She attended Eastern Michigan University and completed her master’s degree. She earned an Autism Impaired Endorsement in eductaion from Northern Michigan University.
She married Steven Kuchuk May 7, 1977, in Wayne County.
She taught special education at Farmington Public Schools until they moved to Drummond Island in 2004. She worked as a special education consultant in the Eastern Upper Peninsula as her health allowed.
Mrs. Kuchuk was involved in the Autism Awareness Group, Special Olympics, Breast Cancer Foundation, and Habitat for Humanity. She attended Crossroads Presbyterian Church in Walled Lake and was a Sunday School teacher and youth group advisor.
An avid reader, Mrs. Kuchuk enjoyed scrapbooking, shopping (especially for shoes), backpacking on Isle Royal with her husband and son, camping, four-wheeling, snowmobiling, and vacationing on Sanibel and Marco Island, Florida. She also dearly loved her cats.
Mrs. Kuchuk is survived by her husband, Steven; a daughter and her family, Christen Ann and Gene Sadlier of Walled Lake; a son, Steven Raymond Kuchuk of Drummond Island; her mother, Marion Dupree of Drummond Island; her mother-in-law, Doreen Kuchuk of Garden City; a brother, John William Yadlosky of Concord, California, and a sister, Nancy Yadlosky of Wayne.
She was preceded in death by her father, John Yadlosky, and a sister, Laura Jean Carden.
Services were Friday, March 26, at Reamer Galer Funeral Home in Pickford. Visitation was from 2 p.m. to 3 p.m. with the service at 3 p.m.
