School is back in session once more after a wonderful spring break. Several college students were home for the Easter weekend, including Amy and Emily Winberg, Lauren Izzard, and Rebecca Bickham. It’s always nice to see those smiling faces.

The accompanying photograph of Cedar Cove residents Delight Craig and Sylvia Krolikowski tells a story. Residents of Cedar Cove Assisted Living in Cedarville filled and donated Easter baskets to 10 families in Cedarville and Hessel. The residents purchased candy and toys, and some donated cash to fill the baskets. Activities going on at Cedar Cove for residents include a Red Hat Society, exercise hour, bingo three days a week, a trivia contest each week, worship services, and Bible study groups.

Easter Sunday was another mild day with much needed rain in the morning, but clearing in the afternoon. A good soaking rain is sorely needed here in the Eastern Upper Peninsula. Everything is tinder dry, and a spark could set off a fire. The little rain that we had Saturday evening, April 3, turned the grass in our yard a little bit green.

Thirty children received Easter baskets donated by Cedar Cove residents in the Cedarville and Hessel area. Pictured are Delight Craig (left) and Sylvia Krolikowski, holding baskets the residents put together. (Cedar Cove photograph) It was nice to see Gene Schraeder in church Sunday, April 4, after spending the winter in Florida. It won’t be long before more familiar faces will be appearing in our community, and with the weather as mild as it has been, they may be tempted to come back earlier than usual. It’s always good to see them.

Happy birthday wishes to Betty Kish April 12.
