Damron, Fitzpatrick Are LaSalle’s Students of the Month
Stephanie Damron and Shea Fitzpatrick have been named Students of the Month for February at LaSalle High School.
Stephanie Damron
Senior Stephanie Damron is the daughter of Joe and Sheri Damron. She has a 3.67 grade point average based on a four-point scale. Throughout high school Miss Damron has taken a college preparatory curriculum. Her schedule includes honors English, senior mathematics, anatomy/ physiology, senior modern history, and band. She is a middle school library aide as well as a mentor for a junior high student. Her favorite class is her senior modern history class.
“Mr. [Jason] Byma has been my most influential teacher because he is passionate about teaching music and he makes you want to be your absolute best,” Miss Damron said. “He also relates well to his students.”
She is involved in a variety of aspects of school and community life. Last year she was selected to be a member of the National Honor Society and is the vice president. She is the captain of the Color Guard, and has served as a 4-H youth camp teen counselor. Besides 4-H, she is also involved with Conservatory of Dance Studio. She has numerous hours of community service helping with the hockey association, the music department, the Hope Chest, the St. Ignace food pantry, and Mackinac County Child Protection Roundtable projects.
She has been the recipient of multiple classroom awards. She has qualified for the Just Desserts Awards banquet each spring, and the LaSalle Academic Achievement Award each year.
She has been active in freshman and junior varsity volleyball, and four years on the dance team. Joining the school band as a senior, she plays the French horn in the concert band. She is also a member of the ski club.
Next fall, her plans are to attend Michigan State University.
Shea Fitzpatrick Senior Shea Fitzpatrick is the daughter of James and the late Shelly Fitzpatrick.
Miss Fitzpatrick has a 3.4 grade point average based on a four-point scale. Throughout high school, she has taken a college preparatory curriculum. Her schedule includes honors English, calculus, anatomy/ physiology, Art IV, psychology, and modern history. She is also a teacher’s aide in the middle school library.
Over her high school career, she has earned numerous academic awards and has been continuously on the honor roll. She has qualified for the Just Desserts Awards banquet each spring.
She does well in her academic studies and she enjoys drawing, painting, writing, and singing. She enjoys reading. She enjoys the challenge of learning on her own and said her online psychology class is her favorite this year.
She has assisted with producing the high school yearbook.
Upon graduation from high school, her goal is to attend Lake Superior State University to study psychology. She would like to further her education by attending the University of Michigan to pursue both a master’s degree and eventually a doctorate.
