Featuring more than 50 booths representing a host of retailers, businesses, and restaurants across the state, the annual St. Ignace Home Show and Spring Expo is scheduled for Friday, April 16, from 4 p.m. to 9 p.m., and Saturday, April 17, from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. at Little Bear East Arena. Admission is $3 per person, with children age 12 and younger admitted free.

This year, participants will have the opportunity to view a diverse selection of home-improvement products, all terrain vehicles, boats, and cars. Shoppers are also welcome, as jewelry, cooking supplies, and food storage containers will be on sale.

To name only a few, businesses exhibiting booths will include First National Bank, Soo Fireplace and Stone, St. Ignace Greenhouse and Florist, Mackinac Fudge Shop, and Gustafson's Smoked Fish, which will have samples of beef jerkey available. Prizes will be given away throughout the expo, including a raffle for a car starter.

Last year, the St. Ignace Recreation Department took over the event and added the spring expo component, said Recreation Director Scott Marshall.

“This new venue appeals to businesses,” he said. “It's a great chance for businesses to display their spring and summer items, or for face-to-face.”
