Boynton Speaks on Haiti May 8,9
Jesuit Brother Jim Boynton, who has served in Haiti during and since the earthquake in January, will be speaking in St. Ignace during mass at St. Ignatius Loyola Church and at Immaculate Conception Church in Moran.
In St. Ignace, he will speak at the St. Ignatius 5 p.m. mass Saturday, May 8. A potluck meal will follow in the church basement with Br. Boynton giving a presentation. Sunday, May 9, he will speak at the 9 a.m. mass. He will speak Sunday at the 11 a.m. mass at Immaculate Conception in Moran.
He will travel around the state for two weeks on a fundraising mission and to offer appreciation to those who have contributed to relief efforts. He will speak about the earthquake's impact and the rebuilding process.
Br. Boynton is the son of Ollie and Patty Boynton of St. Ignace and a 1985 graduate of LaSalle High School. He has previously served at Ste. Anne's Church on Mackinac Island and was the vocation director for the Detroit Province, among other assignments.
