Two Men Are Arrested for Drug Trafficking in Chippewa County

Traffic stops led to two drug arrests in Chippewa County Wednesday, April 21.

Randy Phillips, 19, of Trout Lake, and a downstate man who has yet to be arraigned in court were arrested for drug trafficking in two separate incidents.

Both incidents were initiated from traffic stops after police observed moving violations. Approximately 200 grams of suspected marijuana, prescription narcotics, a motor vehicle, and the forfeiture of $16,000 were seized in the cases, along with several thousand dollars worth of other property.

Mr. Phillips was charged with intent to deliver marijuana and two other counts of prescription felony drug charges. Additional charges are pending once laboratory results are available. He was arraigned Thursday, April 22, in 91st District Court in Chippewa County.

The other man was temporarily lodged in the Chippewa County Jail on an outstanding felony warrant, with local charges pending. His name will not yet be reported because he has yet to be arraigned.

Chippewa County Sheriff deputies were assisted by the Bay Mills Police Department and a K- 9 narcotics dog. Sheriff detectives say that both investigations could result in additional arrests and forfeitures.
