Geline Weldy
Geline Weldy, 71, of Lawton, owned Miller’s Camp restaurant in St. Ignace for a time. Mrs. Weldy passed away unexpectedly Tuesday morning, April 20, 2010, at her residence.
She was born in Arkansas September 12, 1938, one of six children of Lillard and Loma Wilkerson. She moved to southwest Michigan in the mid 1950s.
She and Thomas Weldy were married September 1, 1979. Together the couple owned and operated The Bend restaurant and bar in Coloma, which they bought in 1981. In 1994 they moved to St. Ignace, and purchased Miller’s Camp restaurant and bar until 2006, when they returned to southwest Michigan.
She loved spending time with her family and friends, and friends said she never met a stranger. She enjoyed gardening, reading, and bowling, and could always be found with her cup of coffee nearby. Mrs. Weldy had a talent for decorating, and enjoyed spending time at the local casinos.
She is survived by her husband, Thomas, of Lawton; two daughters and their families, Pamela and Richard Pulk of Brownstown, and Lonna Adams of Keeler; a son, Raymond Adams of Eau Claire; two stepdaughters and their families, Kim Weldy and Kelly and Joe Jerue, all of Decatur; four sisters and their families, Gloria and Donald Frober of Eau Claire, Lee Murry of Flint, Mary Elizabeth Roetzel of Russell, Arizona, and Laverne Russell of Berrien Springs; three grandchildren, one step-granddaughter, and four great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her parents and a sister, Lorene Smith.
Services were Saturday, April 24, at 11 a.m. at Duffield and Pastrick Family Funeral Home in Coloma. Visitation was Friday, April 23, from 5 p.m. to 8 p.m.
Memorials may be made to a charity of the donor’s choice.
