St. Ignace Saints Track Teams Continue Successful Spring Season

The St. Ignace girls and boys success on the track continues as the Saints swept the championships of the 13-team Inland Lakes Invitational in Indian River Monday, April 12.

Girls Top Five Teams: St. Ignace recorded 158 points, followed by Johannesburg-Lewiston with 81, Brimley 77, Inland Lakes 71, and Bellaire 50.

The Saints girls won the four relay events. The 3200 relay team of Sarah Cullip, Nicole Elmblad, Kristen Olsen, and Anna St. Andrew took first in 10:46; the 800 foursome of Taylor Becker, Kali Jo Marshall, Alexa Thibault, and St. Andrew first in 1:55.68; the 400 group of Heather Beaudoin, Becker, St. Andrew, and Thibault first in 55:16; and the 1600 team of Elmblad, Becker, Olsen, and Thibault first in 4:33.72.

During Quad Meet

The St. Ignace Saints girls scored 119.5 points to win the quadrangular meet the LaSalle High School Kiwanis Track Complex Wednesday, April 21.

Cheboygan finished second with 90.5, followed by Rudyard with 34, and Mackinac Island 10.

Rudyard girls: Hunter Perry recorded a personal best with a mark of 102'1" to win the discus and placed fourth in the discus; Leah Jarvie, first in the 1600 in 5:58.94, second in the 800; Rebecca Malaski, third in the 400; Caitlyn Mudroch, third in the high hurdles; Emily Markstrom, third in the 200; Carrie Berkompas, fourth in the 3200 and fifth in the 1600; Samantha Raffaele, fourth in the high jump. The Bulldogs placed third in the 800 and 3200 relay events.

Mackinac Island girls: Zhan’e Nash, third in the 100 and fourth in the 200; Morgan Brodeur-Bunker, fifth in the 3200; the 400 relay team finished third.

Cheboygan won the quad meet with 122.5, followed by Rudyard with 72, St. Ignace 61.5, and Mackinac Island 0.

Engadine Boys, Brimley Girls

Win Quadrangular Meet The Engadine boys team and the Brimley girls team finished first during the Eagles quadrangular meet at Engadine Friday, April 16.

The Eagles tallied 81 points, followed by Brimley with 68, DeTour 42, and Mackinac Island 1.

Engadine boys: Phillip Hood, first in the 100 dash in 11.49, first in the 200 in 25.28, and first in the long jump with a leap of 18'1.5"; Michael Klobucher, first in the high hurdles in 21.09; second in discus and shot put; David Fowell, first in the high jump and fourth in the discus; Victor Collins, second in the 200, third in the 100 and 400; Jeffrey Dishaw, second in the 1600 and 3200; David Paquin, second in the 400 and fourth in the 800; Dylan Formolo, third in the long jump, shot put, and 200. The Eagles 400 relay team placed first in 50.98.

Brimley boys: Keith Swendsen, first in the 800 in 2:31.85, first in the 1600 in 5:14.58, first in the 3200 in 11:10.53; Julian McGinnis first in the low hurdles, second in the high hurdles; Luc Piche, second in the 800, fourth in the 400, and fifth in the long jump; Justice Parminter, third in the 800, 1600, and 3200; Taylor Hatfield, third in the discus. The Bays 800 relay won in 11:57.42, the 1600 relay first in 4:45.83, the 3200 relay won in 10:40.53, and the 400 relay took third.

DeTour boys: Sam Peterson, first in the 400 in 1:01.21, second in the 100, and fourth in the shot put; Harry Reinfelder, first in the shot put in 40'6"; Paul Stocking, fourth in the long jump and 400; Bright Iamcheerangkoon, fourth in the 1600; Sathya Wiltse, fourth in the 100.

Girls results: Brimley finished first with 94 points, followed by Engadine with 50, DeTour 41, and Mackinac Island 19.

Brimley girls: Becca Carruthers, first in the high hurdles in 17.88, high jump in 4'10", and low hurdles in 1:04.56; Miranda Reattoir, first in 1600 in 6:51.27, 800 in 3:04.28, and 3200 in 15:44.97; Kaitlyn Peters, first in discus in 86'9", second in the shot put; Megan Parish, second in the 1600; Taylor Mills, second in the 800, fourth in the 1600; Sydney Beaune, second in the discus and third in the shot put; Lynette Carrick, second in the long jump and third in the 1600; Tiffany Wilson, fourth in the discus; Amanda Starr, fourth in the 100 and 200. The Bays 1600 relay team won in 5:37.50, the 3200 relay first in 12:43.92, and 800 relay second.

Engadine girls: Jackie Formolo, first in the shot put in 31'2", third in the discus; Tia Browning, first in the 100 in 14.43 and 200 in 32.85; Morgan MacArthur, third in the long jump and 800 and fourth in the high jump; Kayla Miller, third in the 200; Krista Metcalf, third in the high and low hurdles. The Eagles won the 800 relay in 2:14.11 and second in the 400 relay.

DeTour girls: Nicole Melcer, first in the long jump in 12'6" and second in the high hurdles and high jump; Abby Stocking, first in the 400 in 1:18.43, third in the 100, and fourth in the long jump; Nicole Bouwma, third in the high jump; Brooke Tiefenbach, second in the low hurdles; Sarah Reed, fourth in the shot put. The Raiders 400 relay placed first in 1:02.51.

Mackinac Island girls: Zhane Nash second in the 100; Jane Finkel, fourth in the high and low hurdles; Morgan Brodeur-Bunker, fourth in the 800. The Lakers 400 relay took third.

Engadine Boys Fifth

at Division 3 Dome Meet

The Engadine Eagles boys team finished fifth out of 14 teams during the Division 3 Dome Track and Field Invitational in Marquette Tuesday, April 20.

Eagles boys: Phillip Hood, first in the long jump with a leap of 20'0", first in the 400 dash in 54.42, second in the 100 and 200 dashes; Michael Klobucher, first in the discus with a toss of 116'5", fourth in the shot put; David Fowell, fourth in the shot put; Jeffrey Dishaw fourth in the 3200 run.
