Trojans Boys, Bays Girls Capture First at Engadine

The Frank Formolo Memorial Track and Field Invitational was started in 1987 and is held in honor the friend of Engadine’s athletic program, who passed away in 1986. Mr. Formolo and the late Terry Konle founded the Engadine Athletic Booster Club in 1974.
This year, May 4, saw the Cedarville Trojans edging out Pickford, 127 to 120, for first place in the boys division, followed by Engadine with 105, Brimley with 62, and DeTour with 57. For the girls, Brimley Bays earned 122 points, followed by Pickford with 96 points, DeTour with 89, Engadine with 79, Cedarville with 64, and Mackinac Island with 27.
Cedarville Boys: Tyler Kanitz, first in the 800 in 2:12.90; Josh Haske, second in the 100 and 800; Bobby Krackowski, second in the 200; Patrick Weaver, third in the low and high hurdles; Matthew Schlosser, third in the 3200, fourth in the 1600; Trent Pitko, third in the 200, fifth in the 100; Charlie Nelson, third in the long jump, fourth in the 400; Martin Payment, third in the high jump; Keith Bouschor, fourth in the high jump; David Andress, fifth in the 400 and high jump; Kelly Izzard, fifth in the shot put; Gabe Miller, sixth in the 3200; Jacob Strait, sixth in the shot put. The Trojans won the 1600 relay in 3:55.85, first in the 3200 relay in 9:17.97, second in the 400 and 800 relay events.
Phillip Hood of Engadine won four events at the Frank Formolo Invitational, capturing the 100, 200, and the 400 dashes and the long jump.
Pickford Boys:
Paul Morrison, first in the high hurdles in 17.95, second in low hurdles; Jarred LaVigne, second in the high and low hurdles; Jordan LaVigne, second in the long jump, third in the 100; Jack Robinson, second in the high jump; Austin Brunning, third in the 1600, fourth in the 800; Isaac Leach, third in the 400; Phillip Coullard, fourth in the long jump; Tim Gough, fifth in the 3200; Casey Vogel, fifth in the low hurdles; Brandon Christensen, sixth in the 800; Ryan McBride, sixth in the discus.
Alexis Mason won the 100 and 200 meter dashes and finished third in the long jump at the Engadine Invitational.
The Panthers relay teams finished first in the 400 in 49.09, first in the in the 800 in 1:41.75, second in the 1600 and 3200.
Engadine Boys: Phillip Hood, first in the 100 in 11.76, first in the 200 in 23.97, first in the 400 in 53.92, first in long jump with a leap of 18'11.5"; Michael Klobucher, second in the shot put and discus, fourth in the high hurdles; Jeffrey Dishaw, second in the 3200, fifth in the 1600; Victor Collins, second in the 400; David Fowell, third in the shot put, fourth in the discus; Dylan Formolo, fourth in the high jump; David Paquin, fifth in the discus. The Eagles placed third in the 800 and fourth in the 400 relays.
Brimley Boys: Keith Swendson, first in the 1600 in 4:54.54, first at in the 3200 in 10:47.11, third in the 800; Taylor Hatfield, third in the discus; Justice Parminter, fourth in the 3200, sixth in the 1600; Justin Graham, fourth in the 200; Lance Piche, sixth in the 400; John Wilson, sixth in the 200. The Bays 1600 and 3200 relay teams finished third, 800 relay team took fourth.
DeTour Boys: Harry Reinfelder, first in the shot put with a toss of 40'8", first in the discus with a throw of 110'2"; Sam Peterson, first in high jump with a mark of 5'6", second in the 100, fourth in the shot put; Sathya Wiltse, fourth in the 200, sixth in the 100 and long jump; Paul Stocking, fourth in the 100. The Raiders 400 relay team placed third.
Brimley Girls: Alexis Mason, first in the 100 in 13.64, first in the 200 in 28.78, third in long jump; Lynnette Carrick, first in 1600 in 6:07.64, first in 3200 in 12:53.04; Miranda Reattoir, second in 1600, third in the 800 and 3200; Kaytlyn St. Peter, second in shot put, third in discus; Megan Parish, second in 800; Sydney Beaune, fourth in discus; Kim Tinker, fifth in the shot put; Taylor Mills, fifth in 3200; Tyffanie Wilson, sixth in the discus. The Bays 800 and 3200 relay teams finished second, 1600 relay third, 400 relay fifth.
Pickford Girls: Olivia Smith, first in low hurdles in 53.81, second in high jump; Callie Smith, first in 400 in 1:07.34; Brandi Kopitz, first in 800 in 2:38.95; Kristi Gough, fourth in low and high hurdles; Kristen Cline, fifth in long jump; Rileigh TenEyck, fifth in 100, sixth in 200 and 400; Victoria Cusick, fifth in 1600, Allison Rader, sixth in the long jump; Jesse Barras, sixth in the high hurdles. The Panthers swept the relay events, winning the 400 in 57.75, 800 in 1:58.91, 1600 in 4:39.05, and 3200 in 11:05.08.
DeTour Girls: Nicole Melcer, first in high jump with a mark of 4"10", first in high hurdles in 18.51, fourth in long jump; Alyssa Anderson, second in 100 and 200, fourth in high jump; Abby Stocking, second in long jump, fourth in 400, sixth in 100; Nicole Bouwma, second in high hurdles, third in high jump; Sara Reed, second in discus, sixth in shot put; Brooke Tiefenbach, fifth in low hurdles. The Raiders 400 relay team placed second.
Engadine Girls: Jackie Formolo, first in shot put with a toss of 29'8", first in discus with a throw of 86'0"; Tia Browning, first in long jump with a leap of 13'9", second in 400; fourth in the 100 and 200; Katie Hobbs, second in low hurdles, fifth in 200; Kacie Rutledge, third in shot put, fifth in discus; Krista Metcalf, fourth in high jump, fifth in high hurdles. The Eagles 400 relay took third, 800 relay team took fourth.
Cedarville Girls: Erin Currie, second in 3200, fourth in 1600; Kharizma Labinski, third in the low and high hurdles; Kirsten Straka, third in the 1600; Jessy Andress, fourth in shot put; Keely Gough, fifth in 400; Janaan Meyers, fifth in 800; Jillian Collins, sixth in 3200; Taylor Falkey, sixth in 800. The Trojans 1600 relay placed second, 800 and 3200 relay teams took third.
Mackinac Island: Zhane Nash, third in the 100, 200, 400; Morgan Brodeur-Bunker, fourth in 800; Halee Tokarz, sixth in low hurdles.
Saints Split Tri-Match
Track Meet At Cheboygan
The St. Ignace Saints girls won and the boys finished second in a tri-match at Cheboygan Tuesday, May 4.
For the girls, the Saints edged the host Chiefs, 78.5 to 74.5, and Pellston placed third with 21 points. In the boys division, Cheboygan tallied 96 points while St. Ignace took second with 54 points and Pellston placed third with 23.
Saints Girls: Christi Therrian, first in the shot put with a throw of 34'5" and discus at 81'7"; Anna St. Andrew, first in 800 in 2:36.5 and long jump with a leap of 13"7.75; Sarah Cullip, first in 3200 in 12:55.48 and second in the 1600; Kali Jo Marshall, first in the pole vault with a height of 8'6"; Kristen Olsen, second in the high jump and discus; Nicole Elmblad, second in the 1600, third in the pole vault, fourth in the low hurdles; Chelsea Swope, second in the 3200; Taylor Becker, second in the 400; Samantha Gugin, third in the shot and discus; Haillee Brown, third in the low hurdles, fourth in the high hurdles; Heather Beaudoin, third in the high hurdles; Brooklyn Chambers, third in the 800; Mikaela Kelly, fourth in the 1600; Autumn Huskey, fourth in the 400. The Saints won the 400 and 800 relays and came in second in the 1600 and 3200 relays.
Saints Boys: Austin St. Louis, first in the high jump with a height of 6'0", first in the 100 in 11.85; Caleb Litzner, first in the low hurdles in 44.02, second in high hurdles; Gerrit Mortensen, first in shot put with a throw of 42'11.5"; Luke Thurston, second in shot put and fourth in the discus; Grant Simmons, second in the discus, third in the shot put; Richard Bentley, third in pole vault; Dan St. Onge, fourth in the low hurdles. The Saints placed first in the 400 relay and second in the 800 and 1600 relays.
