Saints Girls, Boys Capture St. Ignace Kiwanis Track Championships

The Saints girls and boys captured the championships of the St. Ignace Kiwanis Track and Field Invitational Monday, May 10.

For the girls, the Saints tallied 207 points, followed by Pickford with 70 points, Rudyard with 65, Munising with 61, Brimley with 48, DeTour with 41, Cedarville with 23, Mackinac Island and Newberry with 6, and Northern Michigan Christian Academy scoreless.

St. Ignace boys earned 126 points to edge out Rudyard, which tallied 120, followed by Cedarville with 66.5, Newberry with 57, Munising with 53, Pickford with 36, Northern Michigan Christian Academy with 35, Brimley with 18, DeTour with 10.5, and Mackinac Island scoreless.

The Saints won the 400 relay in 54.67 and the 800 relay in 1:52.87 and placed second in the 1,600 and 3,200 relays.

St. Ignace took the 1,600 relay with a time of 3:45.67 and placed second in the 400 and 800 relays.

Cedarville Boys: Jordan Baker, second in high jump and low hurdles; Michael Kenny, second in pole vault; Tyler Kanitz, third in 800; Josh Hester, fifth in 800 and 1,600; Zach McFarlane, fifth in 400; Patrick Weaver, fifth in low hurdles, sixth in high hurdles; Matt Schlosser, fifth in 3,200; Keith Bouschor, fifth in pole vault; Trent Pitko, sixth in 200; Martin Payment, sixth in high jump. The Trojans placed second in the 3,200 relay, third in the 800 and 1,600 relays, and fifth in the 400 relay.

DeTour Boys: Harry Reinfelder, second in shot put; Sam Peterson, sixth in high jump; Paul Stocking, sixth in long jump.
