Memorial Day Services Planned

Memorial Day, a holiday to commemorate those who died in military service to the United States, will be celebrated in local communities Saturday, May 29, Sunday, May 30, and Monday, May 31. The traditional holiday is the last Monday in May. Services will be in St. Ignace, Mackinac Island, Mackinaw City, Cedarville, Pickford, Raber, Stalwart, Goetzville, and Engadine. Dates and times of services are listed here.

St. Ignace

Memorial Day services will be at 10 a.m. Monday at the Mackinac County Courthouse. All St. Ignace veterans organizations will participate.

Mackinaw City

Services will be at 10 a.m. Monday at the Mackinaw City Municipal Marina Park.

Mackinac Island

Little Stone Church will hold a Memorial Day observance during service at 10:30 a.m. Sunday.

Historical interpreters from Fort Mackinac will march to the Post Cemetery from the Fort at 8:30 a.m. Monday. People may observe the march free of charge, without paying Fort admission.

A flag dedication for all branches of the armed services will take place at 11:30 a.m. Monday at the Veterans Memorial on Market Street, hosted by the American Legion.

Les Cheneaux Memorial Day services will be at Cedar Cemetery on Four-Mile Block Road in Cedarville Monday at 11 a.m.

Pickford

American Legion Post 323 will hold services at 10 a.m. Monday at the community park in Pickford.

Raber, Stalwart, Goetzville

Four ceremonies are planned in the area Monday, at North Raber Cemetery at 9 a.m., Fairview Cemetery at 10 a.m., Stalwart Cemetery at 11 a.m., and Goetzville Cemetery at 11:30 a.m., hosted by Raber AmVets.

Engadine An observance will be Monday at 11 a.m. in the Mill Pond Park.
