Barbara and Jerome LaJoice on their wedding day, May 27, 1950 (left) and in 2010. Jerome and Barbara LaJoice of St. Ignace will celebrate their 60th wedding anniversary Thursday, May 27.

They were married May 27, 1950, at the St. Ignatius Loyola Catholic Church in St. Ignace. Wedding attendants were the bride’s sister, Georgianna Savard, and the groom’s brother, Noel LaJoice.

Mr. LaJoice operated LaJoice Electric and Sons for many years in St. Ignace before moving to Sault Ste. Marie. He worked for the City of Sault Ste. Marie for 20 years as an electrical, heating, and building inspector. They moved back to St. Ignace following his retirement, and continued on with LaJoice Electric and Sons. He currently owns and operates the business.

The couple have six children, Steve and Sue LaJoice of East Jordan, Mary Lynn and Vic Swiderski of St. Ignace, Mark and Shirley LaJoice of Jacksonville, Florida, Jerome and Gale LaJoice of Pembine, Wisconsin, Matt and Loni LaJoice of St. Ignace, and Tim LaJoice of St. Ignace.

They have eight grandsons, five granddaughters, three great-grandsons, and five great-granddaughters.
