DeTour Girls, Boys Capture EUPC Golf Crowns

The DeTour Raiders girl’s golf team won the Eastern Upper Peninsula Conference championship at the Hiawatha Club in Naubinway Thursday, May 20. DeTour girls and boys captured the Eastern Upper Peninsula golf championships at Engadine Thursday, May 20.

The Raiders edged out the Engadine Eagles, 464 to 466, during the 18-hole tournament to win the girls title at the Hiawatha Sportsmen's Club in Naubinway. Mackinac Island placed third with 503, Cedarville tallied 504, and Pickford shot 509. Brimley didn't have enough golfers for a team score. Teams could have five golfers compete, but four scores were counted for team scores.

The DeTour boys scored 355 for first place during the tournament at the Grand Hotel Jewel Golf Course. Cedarville placed second with 367, followed by Brimley with 381, Pickford with 387, Mackinac Island with 405, and Engadine with 414.

Low medalist for the EUPC meets was Marie Bunker of Mackinac Island after carding an 18-hole score of 98, and Connor McLeod of Cedarville who fired a score of 83.
