Hello everyone. It was a wonderful Memorial Day weekend, with great weather.

The Department of Natural Resources and Environment's free fishing weekend will be Saturday, June 12, and Sunday, June 13.

Condolences to the family of Naubinway resident Charles "Chuck" Haapala, 74, who passed away Thursday morning, May 27. Please keep his wife Doris, children, family and friends in your prayers. Chuck was a wonderful man, who will be greatly missed by all. An obituary is published in this issue of The St. Ignace News.

A hike will take place between the falls at Tahquamenon Falls State Park Saturday, June 5, between 10 a.m and 4 p.m.

The Dream Project 3D Archery Tournament will be at the Hiawatha Sportsman's Club Saturday, June 5. The archery range is off US-2 in Naubinway. Archers will be shooting to provide homes for the homeless. Registration begins at 8 a.m. at The Hiawatha Club's Golf Pro Shop. Shotgun start is at 10:30 a.m. The participation fee is by donation and lunch is included. For more information call Walt at 231-268-3072.

Twisted Finster in Concert will be at the Naubinway Marina Friday, June 18, starting at 8 p.m. Tickets are $5 and are available at the Hiawatha Sportsman's Club Pro Shop and at the following First National Bank of St. Ignace Branch Offices: Naubinway, Newberry, and Moran Township (St. Ignace); tickets are also available at the gate. All proceeds from this event will benefit the annual Naubinway 4th of July Fireworks.

A four-person team Triathlon will be held at the Hiawatha Sportsman's Club Friday, June 18, and Saturday, June 19. The competition will include golf, 3- D archery, and trap shooting. Many clinics and seminars will be held on Friday and non participants are welcome to come and enjoy the clinics or watch the competition. Friday's clinics include archery techniques, wing shooting and gun fitting, building a turkey call, cross bow sights, hunting accessories, and trout fly tying.
