Jeanette Nacker
Jeanette Nacker
Jeanette M. Nacker of Clinton Township and a seasonal resident of Caribou Lake near DeTour Village for 40 years was born in Ironwood, Michigan. She was the youngest of nine children born to a strong and loving Swedish Family who continue to have large family reunions although members live across the United States. She also had an extended family of two brothers and a sister who were very dear to her. Jeanette moved to Detroit to attend nursing school at Old Grace Hospital. She retired from nursing in 1982.
Jeanette died at the age of 90 on May 21, 2010 in her home at Pine Ridge.
She and her husband, Orval, had great respect and adoration for each other which was a shining example for others. They built a home and spent summers on Caribou Lake in the Eastern Upper Peninsula and enjoyed entertaining friends and family.
Jeanette will be remembered for pleasant visits at the kitchen table with a cup of coffee and a home made treat. It was nearly impossible to say, “Good Bye,” without her giving you something sweet to take home with you. She also enjoyed feeding and watching the birds especially the humming birds, gardening, rock hunting, boat rides around the lake, phone visits from family and friends and evening rides to look for deer.
Jeanette was a Brownie and Girl Scout Leader, an active member of Hope United Church of Christ and a gracious lady who was a friend to everyone never being able to do enough for others.
Jeanette was preceded in death by her loving husband, Orval, of 60 years in 2001; brothers, Harold, Phil, Art, Everett, Arnold Nelson and Myron and Gordon Marander; sisters, Dorothy Johnson, Irene Spiller and Edleen Stratton. She is survived by her son, Richard (Elaine) Nacker and her daughter, Dianne Karsh; three grandsons and their families, Rodney (Susan), Gary (Dawn), and Thomas (Kimberly) Nacker: five great granddaughters, Aryana, Madison, Emma, Jordan and Abigail; along with one sister, Helen Slordal, of Duluth, Minnesota.
Her beloved dog, Maggie, will miss her tender touch.
Her cremains will rest with those of her husband at Oaklawn Chapel Gardens Cemetery of Sault Ste. Marie, Michigan.
Visitation will be at Kaul Funeral Home…
