Robert Ewer II

Robert Ewer II Robert Ewer II Robert Allen Ewer II, 60, of Pickford, died Friday, June 4, 2010, at home with family members at his side.

He was born June 24, 1949, in Pontiac.

For much of his childhood, Mr. Ewer lived in Rochester Hills, although his family also lived other places as his father served in the United States Navy. After high school graduation, he served in the United States Army for three years.

He married Christina Leslie Grover July 19, 1986, in Shelby Township.

Upon leaving the service, he lived in Florida for a year before returning to Michigan. He worked as a truck driver in the Detroit area until 1999, when he moved to Pickford. While living in Pickford, he enjoyed working the auctions at Old McDonald's Auction Barn and driving truck for Wendrick's Truss Company.

He was a member of American Legion Post 323, the Pickford Ambulance Corps, and the Pickford United Methodist Church. He enjoyed hunting, fishing, camping, and watching home improvement programs.

He is survived by his wife; two sons, Robert Allen Ewer III and Bryon Ewer, both of Rochester; one daughter, Krystal Ewer of Sault Ste. Marie; and two grandsons, Dakota and Jacob Ewer. Also surviving are his father, Robert Allen Ewer of Brandon, Mississippi, and sister, Sharon Christy of Mount Pleasant, North Carolina.

He was preceded in death by his mother, Betty Jean (nee Hayden) Ewer, and by one son, Steven James Ewer.

Visitation was Tuesday, June 8, from 5 p.m. to 8 p.m. and Wednesday, June 9, from 10 a.m. to 11 a.m. at Reamer Galer Funeral Home in Pickford. Services will be held Wednesday, June 9, at 11 a.m. at Reamer Galer Funeral Home with the Reverend Paul Gruenberg conducting the service. Burial will be in Cottle Cemetery in Marquette Township, Pickford.
