Pickford Man Arrested for Copper Theft

Christian Paul Williams, 47, of Pickford, was arrested for larceny over $1,000 and under $20,000 following an investigation of a theft where between 200 and 300 pounds of copper wire was stolen from Carmeuse Lime and Stone Rock Quarry in Clark Township Friday, June 11. Mr. Williams was arraigned in the 92nd District Court on Monday, June 14, with bond set at $10,000. A preliminary exam is scheduled on Wednesday, June 23 at 11:15 a.m. at the 92nd District Court.

A State Police investigation led to the arrest of Mr. Williams, who police say admitted he was responsible for a copper theft April 10 at the quarry. He sold about 297 pounds of copper for more than $600 to a local scrap yard, police reported.
