John Vickery
John L. Vickery, better known as Vic Lawrence, 69, died Tuesday, June 15, 2010, at his home under the care of Hospice. Mr. Vickery was a radio announcer for WIDG many years. He also was an announcer in Witchita Falls and Texas. He worked at a station in Flint and worked at the St. Ignace Truck Stop. He had lived in St. Ignace for more than 40 years.
He was born August 17, 1940, in Flint, to Charles H. and Jennie (nee Busch) Vickery.
He served in the United States Marine Corps.
Mr. Vickery was a member of the Eagles Club and American Legion.
He had a great sense of humor, and was well known to St. Ignace radio listeners.
He is survived by a daughter, Joanie Arland of Tennessee; a grandson, Joie Arland; a sister, Carol Howell of Flushing; three nieces, Kim, Pam, and Lisa, and his ex-wife, Gloria Bazinaw of St. Ignace.
There will be no services at this time.
Dodson Funeral Home assisted the family with arrangements.
