Accident Claims Woman’s Life

An accident near Mackinaw City on southbound I-75 near Exit 338 involving a 1997 Geo and a 2006 International semi-tractor trailer resulted in the death of the Geo's passenger Friday, June 25, around 2:15 p.m. Passenger Patricia St. Amour, 68, was transferred by Mackinaw City Ambulance and was pronounced dead at the Mackinac Straits Health System, according to a statement issued by the Emmet County Sheriff's Office. Her daughter, driver Therese Warner, 38, of Cheboygan was transferred to Cheboygan Memorial Hospital and released Saturday. The International was driven by Roger Nast, 56, of Cheboygan, who was not injured.

The cause of the accident is under investigation.

Southbound I-75 was closed for about five hours while investigators were on the scene.

Mrs. St. Armour is survived by six grown children. A service will be Saturday, July 3. An obituary for Mrs. St. Amour is published in this issue of The St. Ignace News.
