Les Cheneaux Performing Art Camp Begins July 9
Children 10 to 14 years of age who are interested in the performing arts may sign up for the Les Cheneaux Performing Arts Camps, which has announced a children’s theater production of Disney’s “101 Dalmatians - Kids” Saturday, August 7, at 7:30 p.m., and Sunday, August 8, at 3 p.m.
This season’s Performing Arts Camp gives students the opportunity to participate in a full-scale musical adaptation of Disney’s classic tale of Pongo and Perdita, as well as their humans, Roger and Anita. Cruella DeVille, along with her daffy sidekicks Horace and Jasper, and, of course, all those puppies will steal the show.
The play will be produced and directed by Lisa Dunn. Registration fees are $25 per student. Full scholarships are available for children currently enrolled in the school's free and reduced lunch program. For children who do not wish to perform on stage, backstage opportunities to participate will be available.
Rehearsals will be scheduled Monday through Friday, July 9 thorough August 6 . All rehearsals will be from 10 a.m. to noon and will take place in the Cedarville High School's Old Gymnasium. Performers will be rehearsing in groups according to each scene. A full schedule for each child will be distributed after casting is complete.
Interested parties may pre-register by calling the Drama Club Box Office at 484-2256, extension 4. Full registration and payment of fees will take place at the beginning of the first rehearsal Friday, July 9, at 10 a.m. in the Old Gymnasium.
A portion of the profits from this season’s production will benefit the Les Cheneaux Education Foundation. The Education Foundation has sponsored summer community theater in the Les Cheneaux area for the past two decades.
