Gerald Harrison
Gerald Theodore Harrison, 67, of Pickford, died Tuesday, June 22, 2010, as the result of an automobile accident in Chippewa County.
He was born August 7, 1942, in Sault Ste. Marie, to Gerald Alexander and Theora Emeline (nee Hughes) Harrison.
A lifelong Pickford resident, Mr. Harrison was graduated from Pickford High School in 1960. He worked in the plumbing and heating business for his entire life, starting as a child helping in his father's business and continuing as the owner and operator of Gerry's Plumbing and Heating. He would go above and beyond the call to solve plumbing or heating problems for his customers, friends said. Many times he was called out during the night or on holidays, to get someone's heat back on, or get their water working. If someone had an emergency, he never let them down.
He married Betty Jean (nee Barber) Harrison August 6, 1986.
Mr. Harrison was a member of the Pickford Presbyterian Church and a former member of the Pickford Lions Club. He enjoyed hunting, fishing, picking berries, discussing politics, and was an avid Detroit Red Wings fan.
Mr. Harrison is survived by his wife; a daughter and her family, Rhonda and Dale Tallman of Salem, Oregon; a son and his family, Michael and Sandy Harrison of Grand Rapids; four stepchildren and their families, Kim and Dave Floyd of Sault Ste. Marie, Kathy and Sam Arms of Onaway, Karen Black of Grand Haven, and Kevin Black of Sault Ste. Marie; 11 grandchildren and their families, Jonathan and Holly Tallman, Sarah Tallman, Emily Tallman, Shane Harrison, Samantha Harrison, Sabrina Harrison, Travis Floyd, Jordan Floyd, Dylan Floyd, Allyson Floyd, and Erica Chamberlin; and three greatgrandchildren, Ryan, Alex, and Tryston Tallman. Also surviving are three sisters and their families, Venitta and Gerald Hill of Cedarville, Kathleen and Steven Gerrish of Sault Ste. Marie, and Kandice and David Huyck of Milford, and several nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his daughter, Tracey Lynn Harrison, and by his parents.
