Durwood and Gladys Carmean on their wedding day, June 29, 1940, and in more recent years. Durwood and Gladys (nee McCarthy) Carmean of St. Ignace celebrated their 70th wedding anniversary.

They were married June 29, 1940, at St. Ignatius Loyola Catholic Church in St. Ignace. Wedding attendants were Jack McCarthy and Frances (nee McCarthy) Donnely.

Their six children and their families are Bill Carmean of Grand Rapids, Doug and Gail Carmean of Pontiac, Shelly and Brooks Partridge of Sault Ste. Marie, Kathy Winkelman of St. Ignace, Deb and Tom Evashevski of St. Ignace, and Jeff and Laura Carmean of Chicago.

They have eight grandsons, seven granddaughters, six greatgrandsons, and 10 great-granddaughters.
