Stopping by at the home of Connie Paquin for a short visit were friends and family from near and far, including Ada Hofga of Elmira, Mary Sparks from Cedar Springs, Fred and Dily Bisard of Wyoming, Michigan, and Carol Bolsma of Newaygo, as well as Jeff, Janet, and George Ducsay closer to home. Jeff Ducsay visited again with his daughter, Sarah. Connie will celebrate her birthday this week so her presents arrived a little earlier to enjoy. Her friend, Evelyn Selby, surprised Connie with a birthday cake Monday, July 5.

At the Livermore home this week was son Dave, from the United States Army and San Antonio, Texas. En route he gathered his children, Alex and Cyleste, of Bonair, Georgia, and Isaac of Grayling. While here, they took many side trips to enjoy the beauty of the Upper Peninsula. Isaac and his cousin, Charlie Fosdick, participated in the Detroit Lions youth football camp in Newberry. They were joined by Jesse and Josie Fosdick in a visit to Mackinac Island.

No celebration, big or small, would be complete without all of the family members. Thus was the case for Junior and Darlene Shoemaker, who celebrated their 60th wedding anniversary surrounded by their children and grandchildren, including Krystal and Louie Oberle of Engadine, Roger and Ronetta Shoemaker of Gould City, Mike and Jamie Shoemaker of Tennessee, and grandchildren, Eric and his children from Alabama, Aaron of Engadine, Amanda of Gould City, and Sarah and Freddie of Gould City. Their children are greatgrandchildren for Darlene and Shoe.

Hello to Bill and Gwen Black and Gwen’s mother, Dorothy Miller, who will be on and off residents for the summer.

Mark your calendars for the Engadine All-Class Reunion Saturday, July 24, and for the Rock for Life concert Saturday, July 31, at the Hudson Township recreational field.

There will be a memorial service for Earl “Sonny” Stephenson Saturday, July 10, at 3 p.m. at Caffey Cemetery.
