Elizabeth Butkovich
Elizabeth Joyce Butkovich, 75, of Engadine, died Wednesday, July 14, 2010, at the Helen Newberry Joy Hospital Long Term Care Facility.
She was born June 21, 1935, in Redford Township, to Russell and Elizabeth (nee Grubbs) Bennett.
She was a graduate of Clarenceville High School in Livonia.
She married Walter Butkovich August 6, 1955, in Detroit.
She resided downstate for several years and moved to Engadine in 1967, where she co-owned and operated Butkovich Oil Company. Mrs. Butkovich also was employed as a courier for a medical supply company and a dispatcher for the Garfield Township Ambulance Corps. She was a member of the Engadine United Methodist Church, the VFW Post 8372 Ladies Auxiliary, and she enjoyed reading, bingo, and knitting.
She is survived by two children and their families, Darwin and Sherri of Engadine and Debra and Joseph Herbig of Houghton; three grandchildren, and two great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Walter, who died November 24, 2006, her sister, Shirley, and her parents.
Friends called at Beaulieu Funeral Home in Newberry Saturday, July 17, from 10 a.m. to noon. Services followed at noon at the funeral home with the Reverend Saundra J. Clark, of the Engadine United Methodist Church, officiating. Interment was at the Engadine Cemetery.
