Artisans have created works of art from Adirondack chairs to benefit the Les Cheneaux Education Foundation. These chairs are on display and open for bids in a silent auction at the Les Cheneaux Community Library in Cedarville from now until 5 p.m., August 11.

The Les Cheneaux Education Foundation is dedicated to providing funding to further cultural and artistic experiences for students of Les Cheneaux Community Schools. In the past, the foundation has funded trips to the Cheboygan Opera House, and Sault Ste. Marie, Canada. They've also contributed to band trips to New York, China, and Australia, in addition to providing scholarships to students attending Blue Lakes and Interlochen Fine Arts camps. The Friends of Les Cheneaux Community Library are also holding a silent auction, running concur- rently with the foundation's efforts. The items for bid are two handmade quilts and an afghan.

One quilt was finished by the Bethel Lutheran Church quilters, with the materials and idea for the quilt stemming from Wendy Lopes, who passed away before the quilt was completed. The theme of this quilt is the Red Hat Society. Proceeds from the Red Hats quilt and the rose-colored crocheted afghan, made by Jeanne Hayes, will go to the Friends of Les Cheneaux Library for programing.

A second handmade quilt is being auctioned at the library to benefit Relay for Life efforts.
