Fundraiser Underway for Brayden Mills

The John T. Bouchard 3101 Fraternal Order of Eagles is hosting a benefit for infant Brayden Mills of Carsonville Saturday, August 14, at 2 p.m., at the Eagles in Newberry, reports a relative of the boy, Donna Pope of St. Ignace. The benefit will include raffles and auctions.

Brayden was born with a medical condition, optic nerve hypolplasia, causing him to be blind. There is no cure of the disease, and no treatment is available in the United States, but his family reports he is a candidate for treatment and surgery in Mexico, which may give him a chance at seeing. The treatment is not covered by insurance.

He will celebrate his first birthday Monday, August 16.

He is the son of Allan Mills and Chelsea Kramer of Carsonville. He is the grandson of Mary Mills, formerly of the Newberry area, and the great-grandson of Art and Vernice Mills of Carsonville.

To donate items for the auction, contact Betty Johnson at (906) 293-3989 or Cindy Conway at (906) 293-5481. Monetary donations are also accepted at Exchange State Bank, 3992 Chandler Street, Carsonville, MI 48419. Checks should be made payable to Brayden’s Fight for Sight.
