Carl Reich

Carl Reich Carl Reich Carl William Reich, 48, of Pickford, was a master electrician who owned and operated his own electric service business and a Cedarville hotel. Mr. Reich died Friday, July 23, 2010, at Northern Michigan Hospital in Petoskey.

He was born December 17, 1961, at War Memorial Hospital in Sault Ste. Marie to Dale and Leola (nee Hillock) Reich, and had a twin sister, Carla.

Mr. Reich grew up in Pickford and attended Pickford Schools. Throughout high school, he worked at the Pickford Co-op as well as at Olofsson Fabrication in Kincheloe.

He married Lori Cryderman June 26, 1982, and they moved to Lansing where he attended Michigan State University training to be an electrical and mechanical contractor. Following completion of that program, they returned to Pickford and he worked at Soo Super Value and then Pickford Building Center. He worked for Cross Heating and then Roy Electric in Sault Ste. Marie. By 1992, he had become a master electrician and he established Carl Reich Electric, Inc. in Pickford. The couple’s family grew up in Pickford, where they also began to purchase, remodel, and rent homes. In 1997, Mr. and Mrs. Reich also purchased and continue to operate the Cedarville Inn hotel on M-134 in Cedarville.

He was a member of the Les Cheneaux Snowmobile Association, Pickford Hay Days Horse Pull Committee, the Pickford Township Utility Board, and the Marquette Township Planning Commission.

Mr. Reich was an avid deer hunter, a part-time farmer who had a love for draft horses, a snowmobiler, and an ice fisherman. He also spent time camping with his family. He especially enjoyed operating heavy equipment. He liked to visit with people and was known to be skilled at solving construction problems. Always working on something, Mr. Reich would take time and interest in what was going on in other people’s lives.

He is survived by his wife, Lori; two daughters and their families, Renae Reich and Daryl Leese of Pickford, and Rachel Reich at home; two sons at home, Travis and Kurtis Reich; his parents, Dale and Leola in Cedarville; and his fatherand mother-in-law, Paul and Shirley Cryderman of Sault Ste. Marie. He is also survived by three sisters and their families, Jan and John Scholke of Sheboygan, Wisconsin, Carla McKerchie of Appleton, Wisconsin, and Landa and Robert Miller of Hessel; three brothers and their families, Randy and Diane Reich of Green Bay, Wisconsin, Marty and Tena Reich of San Jose, California, and Greg and M. Lynn Reich of Plymouth Wisconsin; three brothers-in-law and their families, Ronald Cryderman of Barbeau, Glen and Carrie Cryderman of Pickford, and Scott and Cheryl Cryderman of Sault Ste. Marie, and many nieces and nephews.

Mr. Reich was preceded in death by his infant son, Jason Carl Reich, and his grandparents, Arthur and Hilda Reich, and Lorne and Hazel Hillock.

Visitation was Tuesday, July 27, from 4 p.m. to 8 p.m. and Wednesday, July 28, from 10 a.m. to 11 a.m. at Reamer Galer Funeral Home in Pickford. Services will be Wednesday, July 28, at 11 a.m. at the funeral home with Pastor Ron Bown and Pastor Craig Weihman officiating. Burial will be in Cottle Cemetery in Marquette Township.
