Markstroms Celebrate 50 Years of Marriage

Charles and Mae Markstrom of Cedarville celebrated 50 years of marriage Saturday, June 5, at an open house at their home hosted by their children. The Markstroms married at Trinity Lutheran Church in Ironwood June 4, 1960.

Attendants were maid of honor Phyllis Koski, bridesmaid Judy Durkee, bridesmaid Glenda Brown, bridesmaid Geraldine Koski, best man Duane Brown, groomsman Louis Markstrom, the late James Izzard, the late Leslie Koski, flower girl Marlene Roach, and ring bearer James Van-Lokeren.

Mrs. Markstrom, a registered nurse, received a Master of Science in nursing from Wayne State University and her doctorate from Michigan State University. She served Lake Superior State University as a professor of nursing and as dean of the School of Health and Human Services, retiring in 1997 as Dean Emeritus.

Mr. Markstrom retired from Kincheloe Air Force Base as a heavy equipment operator.

Their three children and families are Marlene and Richard Roach of West Branch, Darryl and Cindy Markstrom of Williamston, Gary and Ginny Markstrom of Howell, and they have two grandchildren.
