Questions Name Change Suggestion for Central Avenue
I have never heard Mackinaw City's "Central Avenue" referred to as "Main Street." I have heard it referred to, and have referred to it myself, as "the main street," meaning "the principle business street." What is this confusion some in Mackinaw City are proposing to spend the apparently unlimited Village of Mackinaw City resources on "resolving" by renaming Central Avenue "Main Street?"
Cheboygan and Harbor Springs are Mackinaw City's only immediate neighbors who have a principle business street named "Main Street." St. Ignace has "State Street," Pellston has "Stimpson Street," Petoskey has "Mitchell Street," Levering has "Mackinaw Highway," Indian River has "Straits Highway," and Alanson has "Burr Avenue."
Pellston has a non-business street named "Main Street." Has anyone asked them if it causes them confusion they feel any need to spend resources to avoid?
Please don't force us to spend our own resources to inform all of our contacts that our address is changing from "Central Avenue" to "Main Street."
