Elwood W. Lewis, 94, of St. Ignace, died Saturday morning, August 14, 2010, at Mackinac Straits Long Term Care. He was formerly of Berkley.
He was born November 8, 1915, in Cleveland, Ohio, to William and Anna (nee Post) Lewis.
Mr. Lewis was an engineer at Chevrolet - Warren Technological Center in Detroit. He was active at Berkley Community Church, where he was a Sunday School teacher, led Bible studies, and was a youth leader. He attended Glen Memorial Baptist Church since he moved to St. Ignace in 2004.
He married Marjorie Kitchen August 9, 1934, in Royal Oak.
Mr. Lewis is survived by a daughter and her family, Jean and Tom Kinjorski of Hessel; two sons and their families, Jack and Laverale Lewis of Waterford, and Mark and Renea Lewis of Rochester Hills; eight grandchildren, seven great-grandchildren, and one great-great-grandchild.
He was preceded in death by his wife in 1995.
Services will be Wednesday, August 18, at 1 p.m. at Glen Memorial Baptist Church with Pastor Michael Lane officiating. Services will also be Friday, August 20, in Berkley, with the Sawyer-Fuller Funeral Home assisting. Burial will be in Oakview Cemetery in Royal Oak.
Pallbearers will be his grandchildren.
Dodson Funeral Home in St. Ignace is assisting the family with arrangements.
