Feneley, McNeil, Nesbit American Legion Post 290 will have a fish fry Friday, September 3, from 4 p.m. to 7 p.m. at the Veterans Hall in Engadine. Everyone is welcome.

The 11th Annual Art on the Lake Art and Music Festival will be Saturday, September 4, from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. at the Erickson Center Park in Curtis, with more than 80 art vendors. Food and beverages will be available. There will be a Lions pancake breakfast from 7 a.m. to 11 a.m., children's art tent from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m., children’s parade at 2 p.m., live entertainment featuring "Bordertown" from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m., and "Steppin' In It" from 2:30 p.m. to 5:30 p.m. There is a $1 admission fee per person. No pets, please. The festival is sponsored by Erickson Center for the Arts.

There will be a Farmers Market Saturday, September 4, from 9 a.m. to noon at the Mill Pond Park Pavilion on M-117 in Engadine.

The annual Grand Marais Triathlon will be Saturday, September 4, and Sunday, September 5, at Bayshore Park in Grand Marais. The 5K run will begin Saturday at 9 a.m., and the junior triathlon will begin at 11 a.m. The adult triathlon will begin Sunday at 1:30 p.m. and will consist of a 300-yard swim in Grand Marais Bay, a 13.6-mile bike race through Pictured Rocks National Lakeshore, and a 5K run.

There will be a Farmers Market Wednesday, September 8, in Curtis, next to the Curtis Park.

Lest They Be Forgotten Memorial dedication will be Saturday, September 11, at 1 p.m. at American Legion Post 74 in Newberry. The event is sponsored by the Fallen Heroes Memorial Foundation, whose mission is to construct and dedicate a Lest They Be Forgotten memorial in the hometowns of our military service members who have lost their lives defending the United States of America in the war against terrorism. The Newberry Fallen Heroes Memorial is in memory of Jeremy DePottey (9/11/06) and all veterans who served in Iraq and Afghanistan. Habitat for Humanity Hiawatha Land Golf Tournament will be Saturday, September 11, at the Hiawatha Sportsman's Club Golf Course, off US-2 in Naubinway. It will be a ninehole, two-person scramble. Check-in is at 12:15 p.m. and tee-off is at 1 p.m. The hole-inone prize is an Arctic Cat Crossfire snowmobile, donated by Renze Power Sports. Cost is $25 per person, plus cart.
